I was just surprised that the author thought there was nothing (or nearly) at the onboard Starbucks, that it was better getting the free coffee at the buffet. Even a limited menu would be better than "just" coffee. Anyway, the point is moot since OP has decided it's one and done with NCL. Thank you, not having kids, I have never dealt with this issue and wasn't aware.

This spot is actually a true food hall, made up of 11 restaurants. Options here range from noodles (Nudls) to snacks (Tapas) and barbecue (Q Texas Smokehouse). We visited the buffet for lunch a couple of times and went to O’Sheehan’s a couple of times. Because the ship wasn’t crowded, we were always able to get a table by the window. For those of you that like to dine outside, that is also possible.

So I will say I was on the Escape less then a month ago and our experience was completely opposite yours. Pretty sure you knew this prior to booking. As for the smoking there is a midship smoking area at the bar above the pool deck as well as at Spice H2O.
If you need to use an elevator because you cannot take the steps okay I can see needing to use them but they are what they are. Honestly I am impressed they were able to accommodate a group of 14 at all. We, as many do, researched Norwegian, and the Escape, through social media, cruise blogs and word of mouth. Over all, there were good and bad comments, via person preferences, so though we were cautious in booking with Norwegian, we did mostly because we as a family are pretty good at going with the flow.

Everything is changing because of FULL cruise ships. I hate long lines regardless of the cabin category I am in. Add in the congestion at the Port of New Orleans vs. lets say, Miami.
It works on Prima because there are so many other restaurant options (including free venues) from which to choose. Our choice of the NCL Breakaway out of New Orleans on December 4, 2022, was pre-determined. Last year on the NCL Joy for our family vacation, my wife won the Slot tournament which gave her an entry into the “Casino’s at Sea” Slot Tournament finals for “Winner takes all $100,000.00”. We have gone on this itinerary (Ports) three other times so the ports were a non-issue to us. Another positive thing was we could drive to the Port of New Orleans in just under 6 hours which was a GREAT benefit, especially on our drive home.
BTW….my favorite show on the ship (they were all very good) was the band in Syd Norman’s. And yes, you have to get there early (like an hour early) to get a seat. @kohanfam You should be fine just make your show reservations on your cabin TV when you get in your stateroom. The hardest reservations are the specialty Restaurants which is why I did that first. Without the upgrade to Unlimited Steaming, just the "Free at Sea Plus", are you saying that only one person can use the internet at a time? I was under the impression that since both had to pay for the FAS Plus that both would get it.
